Every March I run a workshop on everything you need to know about moving to the UK. This year it feels particularly relevant to anyone feeling less certain of staying in the Middle East over the next few years.
Moving to the UK is complex and a one-way street from a tax perspective. Getting it wrong could cost you five, maybe six figures in tax. Fortunately, if you understand how the system works, you can avoid a big tax bill completely and plan your move with confidence.
This is my most detailed and practical workshop. You will learn when to move (if you have the choice), what to do with cash, property, investments and pensions, which taxes you can minimise, how to close down your current life and re-open it successfully in the UK.
Suitable for all nationalities, including people who have already arrived in the UK. Limited spaces.
I am not using UAE Exchange anymore. We are busy creating a guide for expats on how to transfer their money. You can sign up below to get notified once the guide is ready.
Who to use instead
It’s a measure of UAE Exchange’s former awesomeness that there is no easy replacement for them. I am talking to several companies which could offer a service similar to the UAE Exchange, but right now unfortunately I can’t say ‘switch to this one’ yet. Which I find frustrating.
What I’m going to do
I’m working on launching a guide called How to Send It – The Complete Guide to Expat Money Transfers. Initially it will be focused on expats in the UAE. By looking at the fees, transfer speeds and requirements, it should become obvious what is the best (or least bad) option for you transferring $1000, $10,000 or more.
We will try to make sending money less painful. It’s going to take a bit of work, so give us a couple of weeks or so.
